Choose the large mart that already fits your route.
A Seoul Station traveler has a very practical Lotte Mart option. Yongsan, Mapo, Dongdaemun and Jamsil offer other useful branches. A large mart is most useful when you want groceries and household items in one stop.

Hours, mandatory closing days and tourist tax-refund participation are branch information. Check the exact store again before a shopping trip you cannot easily move.
1. Put the Branch Into the Day You Already Have
A famous tourist branch is not automatically worth crossing Seoul for. If your itinerary already passes Yongsan, use Yongsan. If you are staying around Mapo or Gongdeok, check Mapo.
This also makes bulky shopping easier because the return trip to the hotel is shorter.
2. Read the Condition Attached to the Price
A Korean supermarket shelf can show several different ways to pay less:
An overseas card being accepted at checkout does not make it an eligible Korean partner card for a promotion. Compare the price you can actually receive.
As a Korean shopper, the discount rate is naturally one of the first things I notice. I would shop differently, though, if I were visiting Korea only briefly. A tourist may not get another chance to come back for a specific item, so I would buy the things I actually came for first and treat a good discount as a bonus rather than the main goal of the trip.
3. Split the Basket Into “Eat Here” and “Take Home”
Fruit, banchan, ready meals, bakery items and frozen food can be excellent during the trip when your accommodation has the right storage or appliances.
For the suitcase, sealed shelf-stable food is easier. Ramen, snack boxes and gim multipacks can occupy more space than their weight suggests, so large packs make more sense once you know how much room remains.
For meat, fresh produce, seeds or agricultural products, check the destination country's import rules before buying.

4. Recheck the Exact Branch and Date
Current VISITKOREA information illustrates why branch-specific checking matters. E-Mart Mapo and LOTTE Mart ZETTAPLEX Seoul Station can have different published mandatory closing patterns even though both are major marts in Seoul.

5. Check Tax Refund at the Branch
Some tourist-heavy branches support immediate or other tourist tax-refund procedures. Current visitor information identifies both E-Mart Mapo and LOTTE Mart Seoul Station as tax-refund locations, but that is not a promise for every branch of either chain.
