Sometimes. A Korean electronics purchase makes sense when the exact model, your real checkout price, home-country compatibility and overseas warranty all work in your favor.
Compare the exact model number, not a family name such as Galaxy, Gram or “Korean beauty device.” Regional versions can differ.
When I buy electronics myself, I care about service access and specifications at least as much as the sticker price. Unless I know the maker and its service network well, I am reluctant to choose an unfamiliar brand just because it is cheaper. If I were taking the product overseas, I would ask before paying whether that exact model can receive after-sales service in the country where I plan to use it.

1. Exact Model First
Two devices can share the same consumer-facing name while differing in storage, RAM, network configuration, keyboard layout, accessories or regional model code.
In specialist shops, also establish whether the item is new, display stock, used, refurbished or parallel-imported.

2. Compare the Traveler-Eligible Checkout Price
Korean electronics displays can combine several benefits:
Remove every condition you cannot actually use. The remaining figure is your comparison price.
If the retailer and transaction qualify for a tourist tax refund, add that only after confirming the actual purchase channel. The tax-refund procedure itself is covered in 9-2.
3. Will This Exact Model Work at Home?

South Korea uses 220V / 60Hz. Many phone and laptop chargers accept 100–240V, but check the label on the exact charger. A plug adapter changes the shape of the plug; it does not convert voltage.
4. What Warranty Travels With It?
Warranty should be checked by product category and exact model.
Samsung Korea's current warranty information illustrates the problem with brand-wide assumptions. Overseas service for smartphones, tablets and wearables can depend on the original sales country, parts and local service capability, and exchange or refund may remain tied to the purchase country.
Samsung notebooks have a separate international-warranty program with repair service in supported countries under its stated conditions. That does not turn every Samsung product into the same global-warranty product.

5. Test It While You Are Still in Korea
For a high-value portable device, leave enough time to test it before departure.
Photograph the receipt, model number and serial number. If a problem appears, being able to return to the seller or an authorized service location in Korea is far easier than discovering it after the flight home.
