Which axis contains two or more of your main days? That answer is more useful than choosing the neighborhood that appears most often in a hotel ranking.

1. Start With West, Central and East
A first Busan trip often mixes attractions that sit far apart. Jagalchi and Nampo are on the western side; Haeundae and Songjeong are far to the east.
Count the major blocks of each day.

Visit Busan's own subway-based itineraries reflect these different axes: Line 1 supports western and old-downtown movement, while Line 2 links Jeonpo, Gwangalli and Haeundae.
2. Seomyeon — A Transfer Base for Mixed East + West Days
Busan Metro Lines 1 and 2 meet at Seomyeon. That gives it a practical role when your trip repeatedly alternates between Busan Station / Nampo in the west and Gwangan / Haeundae in the east.
Jeonpo's cafés, central restaurants and nightlife also give you options after returning to the area.
When several full days are already concentrated on the eastern coast, compare an eastern base before committing to the extra daily rides.
3. Haeundae vs Gwangalli — Two Different Eastern Bases
Haeundae — Daytime Beach and East-Coast Base
Haeundae works when Haeundae Beach, Dongbaekseom, Cheongsapo, Blueline Park, Songjeong or other eastern-Busan plans occupy a large part of the trip.
The district also has a broad range of larger hotels, residences and resort-style properties.
Gwangalli — Night View and Evening Base
Gwangalli fits trips built around Gwangan Bridge views, beach cafés, dining and late-evening walks.
For Gwangalli, map the actual hotel to Gwangan or Geumnyeonsan Station. Official Visit Busan routes place Gwangalli Beach roughly a 13–15 minute walk from Gwangan Station, so a beachfront room can still involve a real walk to Line 2.
A listing that says “Gwangalli” can sit nearer the station, nearer the beach, or farther toward Millak. Use the hotel pin.

4. Nampo vs Busan Station — Sightseeing vs Rail Logistics
Nampo
Choose Nampo when Jagalchi, BIFF Square, Gukje Market, Gwangbok-dong, Yongdusan, Gamcheon or Songdo make up the main sightseeing cluster.
The area keeps western Busan activities and evening food options close together.
Busan Station
Busan Station is particularly useful for a late KTX arrival, early departure, one-night stop or heavy luggage.
For a multi-night sightseeing stay, compare Busan Station with the area where most days actually begin and end.
5. Split the Stay Only When It Removes Repeated Cross-City Trips
For a short Busan trip, one hotel avoids another checkout, luggage move and check-in.
A split stay becomes useful when the itinerary clearly separates into repeated western and eastern clusters.

Do not use a fixed four-night or five-night rule. Count the journeys that disappear after the hotel move.
