A seller, an international carrier and Korean Customs can show three different messages for the same package.
The seller may say Shipped. The carrier may say In Transit. UNI-PASS may show nothing yet.
That does not automatically mean one of the systems is wrong. Each system begins tracking at a different point in the shipment.
Find the actual international tracking number first.
Postal item: use the 13-character international postal number.
Courier or general cargo: identify the Master B/L or House B/L used for Korean import tracking.
A seller's order number is usually not the number Korean Customs needs.
Order number, tracking number and B/L
An order number belongs to the commercial transaction with the seller.
It helps the shopping site find your purchase, cancel an order or handle a refund. It does not necessarily identify the physical shipment after the parcel enters an international logistics network.
Postal shipments use a different identifier.
Korea Customs currently says EMS, international parcels and international registered mail handled through the postal network can be traced with a 13-character international mail number.
The Customs examples include EMS-style numbers and registered or parcel numbers beginning with letters such as R, V or C.
International courier and general-cargo shipments are handled differently. Korea Customs provides cargo tracking using a Master B/L or House B/L.
| Number | Where it belongs | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Seller order number | Shopping site / seller | The commercial order, payment and seller-side fulfillment |
| 13-character postal number | Korea Post / postal tracking | International postal movement and delivery scans |
| House B/L / Master B/L | Carrier / UNI-PASS / Customs cargo tracking | Import cargo and Korean customs progress |
If the seller gives you a tracking link, open it and copy the actual shipment number somewhere else. Do not rely on the link remaining available inside the shopping account.
Before the parcel reaches Korea
UNI-PASS is not a global parcel map.
If a package has left an overseas warehouse but Korean import information has not yet been created, the Korean customs system may have very little to show.
During that period, the seller or international carrier is usually the better source.
A parcel can spend time moving between an origin warehouse, an export facility, an airline or international hub before it appears in a Korean import record.
A blank Korean Customs result at that stage is not proof that the parcel has been lost.
After arrival in Korea
The useful screen changes once the shipment reaches Korea and import processing starts.
For postal items, Korea Customs links the postal tracking route and asks for the 13-character number.
For courier and general cargo, Customs says to use the Master B/L or House B/L in the import-cargo tracking route.

UNI-PASS
Once Korean import records exist, the customs status can answer a different question from the carrier page.
The carrier may simply say that the parcel is in Korea. UNI-PASS may show whether the cargo record was filed, whether clearance is in progress or whether the import process has moved forward.
If the package is clearly stopped during customs clearance, the problem has moved beyond ordinary package tracking. Check what document, identity information, payment or other requirement is holding the shipment.
Three screens, three jobs
A single order can look inconsistent because each screen is answering a different question.
| Screen | Main question | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
| Seller | Has the order been processed and handed over? | The parcel is still close to the seller or you need order support |
| Carrier / Korea Post | Where was the physical shipment last scanned? | You need transport and delivery movement |
| Korea Customs / UNI-PASS | What is happening in Korean import clearance? | The parcel has reached Korea and customs records exist |
A seller saying Delivered to carrier does not mean Korean Customs has received the parcel.
A Customs clearance-complete status does not mean the final Korean delivery driver already has it.
After customs clearance, responsibility moves back toward the postal or courier delivery network.
When tracking stops moving
If the status does not change for several days, keep a small record before contacting anyone.
Save the tracking number, the last scan location and date, the Korean postal number or B/L if one has appeared and screenshots of the current status.
Screenshots become useful when a tracking page later changes and the earlier delay disappears from view.
When contacting the carrier, give the last confirmed scan rather than only saying that the package is missing.
“House B/L XXXXX was last scanned at Incheon on September 21. UNI-PASS has shown the same clearance stage since then.”
That gives the carrier or customs agent a concrete point to investigate.
If the parcel is confirmed to be in Korean customs, use the customs-hold procedure in this series.
If clearance is complete but the shipment then disappears, arrives damaged or is returned, the issue belongs to the later loss, damage and return-recovery process.
For this stage, the job is simply to identify which organization currently has the package and which number that organization recognizes.
